I've been to, but it doesn't recognize my model or S. I'm looking for a more exact date and what factory it was made in. From the research I've done, I think it was made in the early 70's. Like the subject states, I need help dating my Epiphone FT-165 Bard 12 string.

Not a bad deal.Epiphone serial numbers are usually on the back of the guitars headstock either stamped or inked. Solder joints are well done, (you would be surprised at some of the bad solder jobs out there) Overall, for the price it looks good, plays great, needs new pots and caps. The three position switch is higher quality than expected. The top is cosmetically very nice, but now I want a solid maple top.I guess it a small sacrifice for the great price. Furniture, whatever, its a cheap way to manufacture things and it just irks me. The nut is cheap plastic and needs some minor lubrication but it stays reasonably in tune and I play aggressive.

Machine heads are Grover and high quality. the tenon is not long like Gibson but strong and adds to the tone, and it fits my hand very well. The neck is straight and set in the body. I have yet to really crank the Marshall with this guitar that will be be the "squeal test" but so far so good. The PUP's however, Scream and are comparable to Gibson, they are well made, too bad about the pots and caps. The pots were scratchy and need replacing, no biggie for me.

It looses points because the electronics are typical cheap eastern manufacture. This one is a Korean manufacture and I was very pleased with its fit and finish, and mostly its playability.WOW. So I bid on a cheaper Epiphone Plus Top and won.

Years later after playing several "Pauls" in stores I decided to take one home for a trial because I needed a certain "tone". I had owned a Gibson Les Paul classic 60's model from 1999 or 2000, It wound up getting sold because I disliked the neck and the overall feel was not where it needed to be. I record at home and own several high quality stringed instruments.

I have been a professional musician for around 30 years. Stuning beauty, great playability, reasonable price, some flaws. No real issues or complaints as the guitar has exceeded my expectations which were high to start with. When compared to similar models from other manufacturers the quality stands out. Not really designed for heavy metal sound but more than adequate for blues, jazz and country. Typical Epi set neck and playability but the light weight and distinct ton e combine to make this a fine guitar for the intermediate musician like myself.

The previous owner installed a Gibson full sized P90 p/u in the neck position and a Gibson humbucker in the bridge slot otherwise the guitar is all original and in great condition. Plus the considerable cost savings when compared to a similar Gibson Les Paul florentine model allowed me the opportunity to add this beauty to my collection. The attractions for me: being able to play a light weight Les Paul, great contrasting tonal qualities when compared against a solid body LP along with the rare collectability (few appear for resale with the Les Paul ES Custom being rarer still). If this guitar was lost/stolen/destroyed would I buy another- yes.Īfter a long, exhaustive search this past summer I finally secured a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul ES cherry burst that was manufactured in Korea.
